Green Refectory, Brunswick

I like this place a lot. Honest and simple food, at a ridiculously cheap and affordable price. What’s there not to love? Green Refectory is like a neighbourhood cafe, where lots of people come here for a takeaway, and also to sit down and have all-day breakfast!

Lots of muffins, both savoury and sweet, cakes and pies/rolls on displays. They also have a wide variety of freshly squeezed juices! Whole cakes are also available for sale, but must be ordered a day in advance (real cheap as well).

Both the boys had the big breakfast. The big breakfast was a great deal, for $15.50, it comes with haloumi, sausage, bacon, homemade baked beans, eggs, avocado, onions, mushrooms and tomato! It was massive and delicious at the same time~ Loved the haloumi cheese and the sausage was good as well.

I had the lamb cutlets $13.50; they were marinated, and then grilled. Served with mash potatoes and a chickpea and rocket salad. The lamb was grilled nicely and not overdone, sweet from the marinade! Must have been marinated with herbs and some honey. It was yumsss.

Then for desserts, we shared the hazelnut meringue with ricotta cream and fresh strawberries ($5). Pure dessert heaven, The cream wasn’t overpowering, instead it was really light and went really well with the hazelnut meringue. I can’t wait to replicate this dessert! Stay tuned  and hopefully I’ll be able to plate this up!
