Saturday breakkie at Dukes Coffee and Market Lane Coffee
It was a highly caffeinated Saturday with coffee snob. We started our breakfast at Dukes Coffee down at Prahran. It was early, and the cafe was bustling with people already. I really need to learn the art of waking up early on a regular basis. Right now, it just seems impossible unless it’s for food. Breakfast is always a good motivator.

Coffee snob reckoned that the coffees here are just average and not on par with the ones from Proud Mary or Campos. Nonetheless I still enjoyed my lukewarm latte very much :)
Eggs Benedict
The highlight of Dukes Coffee has got to be the food. I can’t remember if this was eggs benedict, but it had spinach, egg and bacon on a muffin with hollondaise sauce. Classic Eggs Benedict yeah? Ok so for now, it shall be eggs benedict! Coffee Snob deemed the eggs benedict as one of the best he’s ever had. Everything was cooked just right, with the right amount of sinful hollondaise, and that soft muffin was just yum~
Truffle Poached Eggs
I had the truffle poached eggs with salmon roe, asparagus and butter croutons. My, the croutons were so buttery and yummy! I had wanted to stop myself at the first piece, but I just kept on going…… and going…..
Asparagus were cooked perfectly, but I still couldn’t grasp if there was a difference between my truffle poached eggs and the normal ones. But I was contented and pretty happy with my dish!
Opens 7am to 4pm, daily.

Round #2 for coffees. We decided to head to Market Lane as the snob has been dying to try this place out since forever. We had a 3/4 latte that was so good, that CS deemed it as the best coffee he has had in long, long time. It was chocolatey rich and had a caramel and malty finish to it.

Love the porcelain cup!
We also had the Guatemalan La Perla pour over that was very clear and juicy, with a sweet mandarin citrus flavour. After that, we even attended a cupping session that they run from Thursdays to Sundays at 10am (free) that lasts for an hour. They offer about 8 variety of coffees for you to try from. It was my first cupping session and it was truly an eye opening experience, using your senses to figure out the aroma of the coffee.

Note that, they focus mainly on coffees. The only type of food available are pastries and some warm loaves. It’s a little tricky to locate the shop as it is not directly at the main entrance, instead it’s at the other end of the market. It;s easier to spot the place from Elizabeth St.

Opens Mondays to Saturdays, 7am to 5pm. Sundays, 8am to 4pm.
